Official Statement: Protesting USRowing RowFest
We race as Allies with Oars to promote inclusion and accessibility for rowers of all gender identities. We do this by pulling together competitive lineups for major regattas. This year, the majority of Allies with Oars Ambassadors (30 total, representing clubs across the U.S. and in New Zealand) have chosen not to participate in RowFest because of USRowing’s anti-trans Competition Categories.
3 Ways to Offer Gender-Expansive Race Categories at Your Next Masters Regatta
In 2023, USRowing updated its gender identity policy to be more inclusive for trans and non-binary rowers. Now it’s time for more regattas to broaden the definition of "mixed gender" and add new event categories like "open gender." See how East Bay Rowing Club and DC Strokes Rowing Club are taking the lead, and consider how your club can expand racing opportunities at your next masters regatta.
SSN Welcomes First Allies Ambassador Class
We’re excited and proud to welcome 18 new Ambassadors – rowers, coaches, coxswains, parents, teammates, and allies – each of whom have committed to invite dialogue and conversations in their rowing networks around gender inclusion in the areas of recruiting, racing, and retention.
