Steady State Network is a couple of rowing nerds named Rachel Freedman and Tara Morgan, who between us have nearly 40 years of rowing, coaching, and coxing experience. We could spend days talking about this sport, and regularly find ourselves comparing notes on the perfect stroke, compliment sandwiches, and gnawing on callouses.

Since Day 1, we’ve sought to disrupt the popular, yet limited narrative about rowing culture. We celebrate the expansive array of rowers, coaches, and coxswains and savor real-life experience from launch to cox seat at every level.

Since 2022, Steady State Network has raced as Allies with Oars to promote inclusion and accessibility for all rowers, regardless of gender identity. We do this by boating competitive mixed gender lineups at regattas like USRowing Masters Nationals and Head of the Charles. With your help, we are excited to expand this initiative in 2025, helping more individuals and clubs fly the flag of inclusion.

We partner with organizations and businesses to bring educational and networking opportunities to rowers, coaches, coxswains, and club and organizational board and staff through our Changemaker Fund for the Advancement of Leaders in Rowing.

Changemaker scholarship recipients have been able to attend USRowing conferences, UCanRow2 indoor rowing certification trainings, and the Science of Rowing Virtual Conference.
